In March 2017, STORM has joined the fellow EU-funded CELSIUS project as CELSIUS city supporter.
CELSIUS is welcoming DHC stakeholders into the CELSIUS network in order to secure a continued planning, development and optimisation of district energy solutions. Other EU projects, organisations, universities and the private sector can now become CELSIUS City Supporters by signing a Letter of Intent. STORM has committed to sharing knowledge and expertise on the STORM controller. The STORM team is planning joint activities very soon that will be announced on the STORM website.
About the CELSIUS project
Co-funded by the EU, CELSIUS collaborates throughout the whole spectrum of planning, implementing and optimising new and existing smart infrastructure solutions for heating and cooling. There is enough waste heat produced in the EU to heat EU’s entire building stock, and EU has recognized that district heating and cooling systems have an important role to play in order to reach the energy efficiency goals. District heating and cooling will also adress problems with fossil fuel dependency, air quality and greenhouse gas emissions.
As a New CELSIUS City, each member will benefit from the CELSIUS offerings – Workshops, Study visits, access to the CELSIUS Toolbox and Connections to the CELSIUS Expert Group. The broad knowledge transfer spans topics such as technical best practice solutions, fuel management, business models and gaining customer trust. CELSIUS supports committed European cities to maximize the utilization of its primary and secondary energy resources in an integrated way that minimizes its operational costs and carbon emissions while maximizing its energy efficiency. The CELSIUS project will support EU’s aspiring 20-20-20 goals.
